Treatment of a wishbone from a scrapyard using RX5 and RX10
To show you how to use CaprotechRX we made photos of the different steps of the restoration of a wishbone. We got this very rusty wishbone from a scrap yard.
We used:
A rusty piece of metal (wishbone)
A wire brush
Paint stripper
Brush
Caprotech RX5
Caprotech RX7

This is how the wishbone came from the scrap yard

| Step 2 |
Cleaning
Take of all dirt and loose rust.

| Step 3 |
Remove Paint
Use a wire brush to clean the metal and you can use a paint stripper to take of the paint. Once the metal is cleaned, leave the metal for 24 hours to form a very fine layer of rust. We do not remove this!! This little bit of rust will form a perfect bonding with Caprotech RX5

| Step 4 |
First coat with RX5
With a brush we treat the metal with a first coat of RX5. RX5 neutralises the rust and it has a strong penetrating capability so that it penetrates even the smallest cracks. Leave the metal to dry before applying the second coat.

| Step 5 |
Second coat RX5
The second coat guarantees a total penetration of the metal and the rust. The second coat is not necessary but it enhances the quality of the end result. RX5 will form a perfect preparation for the next treatment with RX10. Leave the metal to dry after applying the second coat. |
| |
| Step 6 |
First coat RX10
We can now treat the metal with one coat of RX10. However it is also possible to treat the metal with an extra coat of RX10. For this extra step we diluted RX10 with 50% RX5, (in a diluted form it is easier to paint or spray). Leave the metal to dry after applying RX10.

| |
| Step 7 |
Final Step
The final step will be a last coat of RX10. For the final treatment you can dilute RX10 with a maximum of 5% RX5.
The treated wishbone now shines and looks like new!
