RX5 is a specially developed to treat areas affected by rust.
RX5 is a product based on linseed oil, alkaline resins and solvents. The area to be treated has to be absolutely dry and grease-free. Loose rust has to be removed as much as possible using a wire brush or by tapping. After preparation, apply RX5 using a brush or spraying equipment; make sure that all rust is thoroughly saturated with RX5. If the first coat is not sufficient, apply a second coat shortly after (ìwet on wetî), do not allow the first layer to dry.
Let dry for at least 24 hours, depending on atmospheric conditions. Because RX5 has a strong penetrating effect, thick slices of rust may come off. After drying these can easily be removed by scraping or tapping. If any new clear patches appear as a result, apply RX5 again to treat these patches and allow time to dry. When treating new material, remove as much as possible from the roller layer and degrease if necessary. Then allow the material to ìrustî
(a very fine layer of rust). Now treat as described above.
In case of sandblasting: do not sandblast finer than Sa 2.5-3. Then leave the material to ìrustî a little. Proceed with treatment as described above. After drying do not sand the RX5 coat, but apply RX10 directly as a topcoat. Do not paint over with aggressive primers, car paint, 2 component paint, cellulose paints/varnishes, etc. For advice on what to use, please ask your supplier. For best results, diluting the RX10 topcoat with 10-15% RX5 is recommended.
This will significantly improve the bonding and smooth the paintwork. RX5 is not suitable for the exterior of the bodywork.
